This portfolio represents a selection of images from a series titled Imaginary Dioramas. The dioramas are created through the combination of two or more photographic images that often include wax figures. The content of my images evolves from relationships made or discovered while studying individual photographs I have taken over many years.
Wax figures become “vehicles” for my imagination. Their personality, celebrity status or historical relevance is a component of my image content; however, a wax figure gesture, a facial expression or the clothing of a figure often overrides the figures’ identity. Wax figures serve as replicas of the human state anchored in history or in contemporary society. My goal is to create a dynamic juxtaposition of elements that spark individual interpretation.
